How to use Interact to create a quiz for your business

I had intended for ages to create a quiz as a way for potential new subscribers to get to know me and my point of view about marketing - but I kept getting overwhelmed by all the moving parts entailed in the process.

Then I got an email from Josh, the CEO of Interact, one of the biggest quiz-making companies. This spurred me to come back to the idea and when I checked out Interact, I found the process to be much more intuitive than it used to be (I think AI is the key factor here in making it easier to get set up).

Why create a quiz in the first place?

Quizzes have a much higher conversion rate than most other lead magnets (such as pdfs, checklists, ebooks etc.). Most of us have taken the odd quiz in our time - there’s an element of curiosity about finding out our results which hooks us in. In my case, I wanted a resource that I could mention on podcasts - something in which people might be interested enough to take the trouble to go and look up after they’d finished listening to the episode. I spoke to a couple of podcast guesting experts and they both said that quizzes perform really well in this way for their clients.

Also, my business is based around doing highly personalized work with and for my clients, so a quiz felt like a great first step for potential new clients to start to get to know me - and for me to start getting to know them too. My work has a very strengths-based approach, so a quiz that brings out people’s marketing strengths felt like a great fit for me.

How long does it take to create a quiz?

It took me a couple of hours in total to set up my quiz and write my answers - I used the in-built AI facility to get me started and to help brainstorm ideas (this was especially helpful because I had a bit of a mental block around envisaging HOW the quiz would work, so having this kind of template to work with was really useful).

I ended up writing much longer results than the paragraph that AI generated for me - I wanted to include links to relevant blog posts, suggested books for further reading and I also wanted to talk a bit about the growth edge as well as the strength itself for each example. My clients tend to appreciate depth and context, so I wanted to provide a longer and more detailed profile for each strength than they might have seen when they had previously taken other quizzes.

Choosing a topic

I’d gone back and forth on different quiz topics, but eventually settled on creating a quiz based around identifying people’s strengths in relationship-based marketing, since this is a topic that comes up quite a lot for my clients, and it isn’t something I’ve seen as the subject-matter for other quizzes out there. When I did my research, it seemed to me that there were a lot of quizzes floating around with very similar premises, so it was important to me to find something a bit different.

How much help do you get with the set-up?

After I’d got a clear idea about the topic, I was able to feed Interact’s AI tool one of my blog posts on relationship marketing, which was how the initial ideas for questions were generated. I edited these question ideas a bit, deleted some and added some new ones, but it was great to have a starting point that was developed based on my own ideas from my blog.

Overall, the process of putting the quiz together was simpler and more enjoyable than I anticipated. There’s lots of information about which kinds of quizzes and questions are performing best these days, and how-tos that you can access on the Interact site, plus a chat facility if you want to ask questions.

Do you need to be techy to create and embed your quiz?

No - there are step-by-step instructions,, which are especially useful for doing the trickier things, like embedding the quiz on your website, or connecting up the quiz to your newsletter provider. If you HATE tech, this might not work well for you, but if you’re ok to follow a procedure when it’s laid out for you, you should be fine.
