Solo Retreats for Authors
Build your own glorious solo author retreat with bags of support from an experienced book coach, editor and writing mentor.

Get the best bits of a DIY solo retreat (total flexibility over dates, location etc. to suit you) AND the best bits of a facilitated retreat (structure, support, writing feedback, a book coach to answer all your questions, external accountability and motivation).
All you need to do is book your travel and accommodation and bring the food!
How does a virtual retreat work?
You’ll get expert support so you can focus on your writing, make the most of your retreat time and get past imposter syndrome to get lots of words on the page.
This is a deeply nourishing creative experience that can shift how you feel about writing and how you show up as a writer.
You’ll get access to a pre-retreat planning guide to take you through, step by step, planning your retreat, getting into a regular writing rhythm before the retreat even begins, and lots of pointers to set yourself up for success both during and after the retreat itself.
And most importantly, we’ll set up two 1:1 zoom calls that you can time for whenever you want them - during the retreat or before/after.
Your 1:1 virtual writing retreat is £250

Who’s your virtual retreat guide?
Hey there, I’m Sophy. I’m an editor and creative focus coach.
I’ve helped hundreds of writers get past writers’ block and find ways around their procrastination and perfectionism. Together we’ve developed creative ways to get them into a regular writing habit - and over the years I’ve found that writing retreats are a fantastic way to boost your writing, stop your motivation flagging and reinspire you.
I’ve worked with authors writing novels, memoirs and non-fiction books on all kinds of topics, from re-imagining your relationship with food, to training as a birth doula, to creating your own dharma group…
What kinds of results have my clients seen from working with me?
I’ve been working as a book coach for over ten years (and before that I worked as an editor in publishing, ran a book festival and had various other book industry jobs). I’m also cross-trained as a Relational Dynamics 1st coach, which helps me to support people if they’re experiencing imposter syndrome, writer’s block or issues around visibility etc.
Former clients have been published by Penguin Books, Sounds True, Canongate Books, Hodder & Stoughton, Saraband and Harvill Secker and have been shortlisted for the Booker Prize.

“Working with Sophy was a privilege and a pleasure. She supported me with clarity, empathy and depth of experience.
During the six months I worked with Sophy I wrote the first draft of a book which has now been published.
As I wrote in the acknowledgments, I honestly don’t know if I’d have ever got there without Sophy’s encouragement and expertise.”
